We can get your tank holding water leak free permanently!
When it comes to the repair of a leaking concrete water tank, there are some important things to consider.
- When a tank has been leaking for a long time, the ground around and underneath will be soaked and cause movement. This is especially problematic if only one half is leaking and you are left with one half of your tank sinking.
- Before a concrete tank is repaired, it is always drained; one thing to keep in mind is weight. For example, if the tank is 100,000 litres, the difference between empty and full is 100 tonnes! There is going to be some movement. Therefore, the waterproofing applied needs to be flexible.
- When a concrete tank develops a crack, it is important to understand why, in order to repair it correctly. Cracks are almost always caused by ground movement.
- Deep cracks expose the steel mesh within to water, causing rust (concrete cancer). This can be fixed by installing steel banding around the outside of the tank.
- There are many ways to get your tank holding water again. Options include:
- Liners (bladder) of which there are many types RPE,PVC,HDPE etc.
- Water proof coatings which also vary in types; water, bitumen, solvent or cement based. These are all fit for purpose when done professionally.
